Highlifter spring install w/o special tool

I wasn't able to get the spring compressor tool when I picked up my Highlifter springs. Here's what I did. Be careful, take your time, realize this isn't what ratchet straps are for and proceed at your own risk. Hey, it worked for me and I love my new springs.

I started by supporting the rear of the Rinny and removing the wheels.

remove the bushing caps and push out the metal bushing. this will free up the bottom of the coil over.

I didn't find a need to remove the top of the shock from the Rinny. Leaving the top bolted up meant that I didn't have to worry about holding the shock.

uh oh, here's something that shouldn't be done...this is how I turned a ratchet strap into a band clamp. (band clamp would have been less awkward) I threaded the loose strap thru the ratchet loop so I wouldn't have to hook the hooks together-would have been too long and not enough squish.

alternate and tighten both straps until there is some seperation. you might need to pull down on the shock as it will tend to follow the spring.

I had to push this rubber bushing out of the way to slide out the retainer washer.
