Broke my wire winch cable yesterday. Stuck in a snow drift. Winching almost 90 degrees off to the right. Had no other options. Seems like synthetic rope is the way to go but some prices are really cheap. Anyone used any of the synthetic rope off amazon. A bunch around $20. Generally a very conservative driver. Usually dont push it to where i have to rely on the winch. First time I had to use the winch.
Thanks

I've used the cheaper winch line off Amazon and haven't had a problem. Use it for plowing also. Just don't use a hawse fairlead. Get a new roller fairlead

I use a synthetic rope from Sedeta, available on Amazon. I've had to use it a few times with no issues. An aluminum hawse (which is what I have) or poly roller fairlead is recommended for synthetic rope. Definitely do not reuse your existing fairlead. The nicks, scratches, sharp edges will cut into the rope.

Thanks guys, I just ordered one off Amazon. Can't wait to try it out. Never had to use the cable winch until last weekend. Can't wait to use the synthetic. I did chuck the old Fairleads into the drill press and knock the burrs down. Sarted with 150 grit and went up to 600. Super smooth now.
