After living in California almost my entire life I can hardly believe what goes on in Nevada. A Democrat State Assembly Member has introduced a Bill to streamline the CCW process in the state and keep all CCW information confidential. Go figure. Please read below.
CCW Permit Reform Bill Slated to be Heard in Nevada Please contact Assembly committee members today! The Assembly Judiciary Committee will consider Assembly Bill 143 on Monday, February 28, at 8:00 a.m. in Room 3132 of the Legislative Building in Carson City. Testimony will also be taken via teleconference in Room 4412 of the Grant Sawyer Government Building located at 555 East Washington Avenue in Las Vegas. Introduced by state Assemblyman David Bobzien (D-Reno), AB 143 would streamline the Concealed Carry Weapons (CCW) permit process by allowing an applicant to qualify for a permit for both revolvers and semi-automatic firearms, as well as mandate that the names and addresses of permit holders be held confidential. Although similar to Senate Bill 126, which was heard in the Senate Judiciary Committee last week, one of the key components of AB 143 includes tightening the Nevada Revised Statutes to ensure CCW permit confidentiality. This issue was exposed in a Nevada Supreme Court decision last year after the Reno Gazette Journal newspaper sued the Washoe County Sheriff’s Department when the Sheriff would not release the names of the county CCW permit holders. According to the Supreme Court decision, permit applications may be held confidential; however, the names of permit holders are public record. NRA joins with the Nevada Sheriffs and Chiefs Association in supporting this vital piece of legislation.

I find it strange that a Democrat wants to keep CCW info confidential. Also what the bill also will do, if passed, will make the Permit state that you only have to qualify with 2 weapons. As the law is now after the written test you have to go qualify for the guns you want on your licence. If you qualify with a revolver you can carry any revolver. If you want to qualify for a pistol you have to pass the fire test with each pistol you want to carry. So you licence will have on it, revolver and then list each model pistol you qualified with. The new Bill will change the pistol part and if you qualify with any pistol you will be able to carry any and all pistols. Nevada is known as a liberal State. Anyone who passes the back ground check can get a CCW, prostitution and gambling are all legal. However if you go outside of Las Vegas everyone you run into is a god fearing conservative, but they like their guns and are OK with gambling and prostitution knowing that these things pay state taxes so there is no State Income Tax in Nevada. We just let all the tourists pay for it all through gambling and prostitution taxes.

Good luck HD. In KY we just do a background check then take a mandatory safety training with self defense laws and such. It was very practical training and informative. Well worth the saturady it cost me. Then you qualify with anything that goes bang and has a barrel less than 16 inches long. The qualifying score was easy to achieve.
The cost pisses me off though. $75 to train and background check. Then it was $60 every 4 years to reinstate the permit. Each time you reup, they repeat the background. We get issued a photo ID. My wife and I waited in line to receive some of the first training....a decade ago I believe

I like Alaska's CCW policy better,Alaska Statute 11.61.220allows anyone 21 or older, who may legally carry a firearm to also carry it concealed without having to obtain a special permit. The possession of a firearm at courthouses, school yards, bars and domestic violence shelters will continue to be prohibited. Alaskans may obtain a concealed carry permit if they want reciprocity with other states.
