Default Recon battery question

My son was trying to get the battery out of his recon and it looks like he may have damaged the negative terminal, there is a small piece missing out of it. Most of it is still there. He also broke one of the ring connectors. I think I know the answer but am I going to need a new battery? Can I fix the ring connector by soldering the two ends where it broke together? Thanks for any suggestions.

On the ring connector, how much cable broke off with the ring? If it is not to much and the cable will still reach I would put a new ring connector on the end of the cable that is left. It is hard to tell if you need a new battery without a picture so we can see the damage.

It's hard to see in the pictures. If you put a new ring on the cable will it reach the battery? I can't tell with the picture about the battery.

Yes, I should have enough wire to replace the ring on the cable. The battery terminal has about a 1/4 inch size piece missing out of the left side near the top. The other three sides are fine and most of the fourth side is there.

Those tabs are there to stop the wire from twisting when you tighten it up, as long as the nut is there, clean it (surface of the battery post), crimp and solder a new ring on the wire and put it back together...
