Moderators...please consider

I am suggesting a change to our site that another one I belong to has instituted. Can we imeadiately delete or otherwise kill any political threads imeadiately upon discovery. After the same poster(s) have a couple threads killed off could we also remove said poster(s) please.

If it is related to land usage or ATV descrimination no problem.

Any body dissagree or agree, maybe I am out in left field on my request but these threads are typically started by the same individuals, draw in the "innocent" and create dissagreement that most here could care less about.

Thank you for your consideration, have a nice day, group hug.

Oilcan, this was not meant to single out anybody. I have started some of them in the past but no more. I will also not respond to anything in a political thread anymore no matter how tempting it may be.

Oh, my! Are you so sensitive that the very sight of a thread with a 'political' title in the active topics window makes you want to log off and run away? No one on this forum is forced to view or engage in any threads which they do not choose to. If you don't like particular threads or particular members, just ignore them. It's that simple.

It is profoundly un-American of you to try and stifle free speech just because it makes you uncomfortable. I am astonished. Gee, maybe Ultratec was right: maybe you do accede to me the power to drive you from this forum! I would have never thought that of you. You surprise me yet again. How sad if true.

BTW, that was good advice you gave regarding cam chain tensioners. I have a knock coming from my Rincon and will try what you suggest. :-)

James, with all due respect, I am doing this not for you, not for me, but for the good of the forum. Try to grasp the larger issue please. I knew you would be against. I suspect most will not be. If the powers to be or group consensus dissagrees with me, great. We do live in a democracy.

If you look at your recent bombing thread you will notice....I have NOT participated although I have strong opinions on your post.

I am done with political issues here. DONE.

We can find other issues to attack each other over that are rincon related....maybe good info will come from that, maybe not.

As for your tensioner...glad to help and I extend my offer for phone support to you as a member of this forum. However, I do not wish to discuss anything more with you on my phone except rincon related, or it will be a short phone call. Good luck, its an easy effective fix.

I don't see why you think that banning political threads would be 'for the good of the forum'. What I said about it earlier, that no one is forced to view or participate on political threads, is undeniably true so there is can be no unwanted aggravation. And besides, political threads typically generate huge interest! Look at that Syria thread: only 31 posts and already over 700 hits! Man, boring old Rincon threads don't generate that kind of attention! So clearly, there is popular interest on RR for political threads. And, if a flame war happens to erupt between all of the fine, upstanding members and the evil, snarky troll Jameserizer, well then, the hits really pile up.

If you find political threads objectionable, my advice to you is to grow a thicker skin, don't take yourself or the threads so seriously, and just have fun. OR, ignore them. Sounds pretty straightforward to me :-)

For my part, I don't hold grudges; almost never take anything personally except for maybe when a member calls me up at home and threatens to rape my wife, burn my house down, and kill me; and every day and every thread is a new one and a clean start. That being said, I do occasionally come to form opinions of other members sometimes and 'write them off' if I think they deserve it.

I think that some people just get way too worked up over meaningless forum BS. Go figure...

James, yours is one man's opinion. I have another. The purpose of this open request, and not PMs to moderators was to specifically allow others to comment. Maybe a poll would be better.

If my idea dies....fine. I tried.

If it is instituted...well then fine also, and I do not consider it a "victory" for me nor a "loss" for you. I think you are digging yourself a hole here trying to kill the groups choice before more members weigh in with opinions.

And current count is 2 for, 1 against.

BTW - you will never make me leave this site. You do not have enough ju ju to accomplish that. My skin is leather, I get attacked verbally and technically everyday as a consulting engineer. Take your best shot if you wish.

BTW(2) - I just did a quick search on your forum name. I was interested in the number of political threads you initiated and the number related to the rincon you initiated. Search on me for the same data...I am sure you will.

Blakely, you seem to enjoy bantering with James on the political threads. Do you care to add a vote, yeah or nay. Ultra will need convincing as this issue came up before and he did not want to ban the topic.

This is not anti James. It never was meant to be. There should be no drama. As an old timer here I have seen this site slowly dieing away. Good members have left.

I am fine with the threads continuing if the group agrees to do this. I will just continue to ignore them.
