Question Machine creeps when in drive and in reverse.

2011 Rincon.
Got my Rincon this past June, but haven't rode it much,,,, maybe only 14-15 miles, just been busy with other summer stuff.

Pulled it out of the shed the other evening, rode around to the front of the house, got off of it to get something from the garage, and it nearly rolled into my truck, grabbed the brake just in time.

When idling, it creeps when in gear. Forward and reverse.

Is that normal...???

Make sure you're on a flat surface, and the bike is not rolling when you jump off. Also make sure you're not in gear. I had the same issue on my brand new 2015 Rincon, but after it broke in, it quit. Some might say it's the IACV. I think that's what it's called.

There is a neutral (Between forward and reverse) you should use when leaving the quad. The creeping can be adjusted, your service manual will show you how. I suspect idle is higher than normal which could be as easy as cleaning the IAC valve which is part of the throttle body.

What is the IAC Valve....??

My 2011 Honda Rincon 680 has a Dynatek Dyna Performance Electronics F.I. Controller on it.
The previous owner installed the F.I Controller.

I have not played with this controller or tried to adjust it. Its under the seat.

My idle does not sound or seem high, but i guess it is high enough to move the wheeler when on flat ground or the driveway.

And.... ya.... i guess i gotta learn to shift the lever in to neutral before jumping off the quad, just never have to do that with any of my 3 or 4 wheelers in the past.

The computer on your Honda fuel-injected engine uses the Idle Air Control (IAC) valve to control idle speed. When you fire up the engine for the first time during the day, the engine is below operating temperature. The IAC valve lets air bypass the throttle plates to increase engine RPM and smooth engine operation. As the engine warms up, the air control valve begins to close. However, the IAC valve's internal components can wear out and develop problems. Mostly in our case, they stick and idle gets to high so you cannot shift into gear.

Grab a service manual.

Sometimes I just need to jump off for a minute and do something and I like to not do any more shifting than necessary...wear and all....OCD....and other personal issues. Just crank the bars hard left or right. She will stay where you left her.
