new problem. Rincon is stuck in second gear

I think I did a pretty good job of sealing the hole (very small hole) but since the Rincon is stuck in the "saftey mode" for the tranny it is now stuck in second gear. Oil level is fine and the power is good but only second gear in either ESP or AUTO.

How do you reset the saftey mode? I tried disconnecting the battery with no luck. The service manual is confusing to me on this.

My mind thinks in broken English. It's so bad I think I need to find me a translator.

I haven't noticed any flashing codes.

I have looked at it a couple of times but I will recheck. I tried to reset them anyway and it appeared to work but I am getting the same 2nd gear crap with no codes.

I have been working on this thing all day and I am getting very irritated about right now! The "problem" that I was so worried about i fixed now this safety crap mumbo jumbo is really starting to piss me off!

Your right LG, the manual doesn't say much. I would check that all your connections are tight at the solenoids and any other sensors you may see. Good luck.

Check both the front and rear VSS plugs too, if one of them is damaged or unplugged it won't reset.

Which plugs are that mud?

Wierd thing is it went into second after being sat almost straight up? But the motor never died but the tranny quit pulling at all. I killed the engine, lifted the rear of the machine and fired it back up. Pulled out then but from then on it was stuck in second gear.

You can switch through the gears and I hear the clicks but nothing changes. I checked the 2 plugs on the front of the engine (brown and grey) I think is what they were and even unplugged the PCM fro a few minutes. I jumped across the brown/red to green twice (during reset flashing) but I had no codes to reset anyway.

If the engine was very low on oil and it put inself in second gear how will the oil flow get back to normal? I have put 3.5 quarts in her now and it is touching the top line (without screwing it in). I have the correct oil and there appeared to be zero water in the oil when it drained out and it looks fine now.

Does anyone know if the screw you turn on the side of the motor automatically turns when it goes into limp mode? Sounds kinda stupid, but turn it and see what it does.

Lil look at the manual chapter 14 page 15 for the locations of the front and rear speed sensors. Also I would unhook the battery overnight, sometimes these pcm's will retain stuff for awhile but leaving it powered down overnight might clear it. Like you said the manual sure doesn't give you much info on resetting it or getting it out of limp home mode.

Or...conversly....unhook both battery leads and short them together. This would discharge any capacitors downline of the battery.

Not short the battery out....but pull the negative and positive wires and hold them together for a few seconds.
