Hey All,
Longtime member but have been inactive for years. Im having issues with my 2007 Rincon. heres some backstory. i bought it new in 09 but it was an overstock from 07 (0 miles at purchase). right now it has less than 1000 miles on it and i keep a battery tender on is as its at a vacation home that i visit once a month roughly. Right now the bike wont start and i cant figure out why. My friend was riding it and left it idle as he was doing some fence work. it stalled out and hasnt worked since. I havent replaced the battery in a while so i know the 680's are temperamental with that so i replaced it. When i turn the key i get all my dash to light up (gas, time, gear, 0mph, etc ) all show up. lights work and such but when i try to start it. i tried to move the gear shifter to drive and back, i checked the kill switch, i checked the fuses (one was popped but it was the Accessory one, i replaced it anyways). when i hit the start button it trys to turn over but doesnt fire and start up. here are the steps ive done to troubleshoot so far. The only modifications ive made to the bike to the engine/electric was i added a warn winch (in 2009), and a battery tender (2015).

1: Checked fuses (Acc was bad, replaced)
2: siphoned gas out and replaced with new gas(old gas was only a month old and premium)
3: replaced the battery
4: Replaced the spark plug (original to the bike)

I cant think of what else i can do before it goes to the shop and i cry when i look at the bill. Im going back this weekend to drain the gas again and just confirm the fuel line isnt clogged or anything because it sounds like it wants to start but no gas. if i remember correctly there isnt a gas shut off with this or fuel filter?

anyways any ideas would be greatly appreciated and i dont have it with me to troubleshoot all the time.

Thanks

Fuel filter is in the gas tank I beleieve.
Fuel shut off is on the side of the bike.
Check for fuel supply.
Check for spark at the plug.

Confused on your wording.
when i hit the start button it trys to turn over but doesnt fire and start up.
Tries to turn over?
Does the motor turn over, spin like it always has or is it turning over slowly?

Get a Honda Service manual from your local dealer.
Try to fix it yourself if your don't want to see a dealer repair bill.

He has a 2007. There is no fuel shut of valve and the filter is attached to the bottom of the electric fuel pump.

Take the fuel filter off the pump and inspect/change it. A common issue is they plug up. If you don't ride it a lot, then flush your tank as well. There is an improved filter replacement. Probably cheaper elsewhere but here is one on ebay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/HONDA-TRX680-RINCON-UPDATED-FUEL-FILTER-KIT-16706-HN8-305-/253084891341

You can get a manual here, cheaper than a hard copy, and you can refer to it or print pages as needed.

Okay I just got back to the farm now... The phrasing I meant was when I hit the starter it sounds like it's ready to fire up but it sounds like it's out of gas .. I'm gonna siphon out the tank now and try to take the fuel pump apart and get to the filter. Thanks. Any recommendations on how to completely flush the tank out?

Remove the plastics covering it ... mostly push pins and a couple 10mm bolts. The tank is held down with a couple 10 mm one on either side, remove gas line, unplug gauge (up under the cover in front of your handle bars) then lift it straight up and out .....empty first to save your back ;) flush it with good gas (you don't need premium but that is another story)

Swish the new fuel (a couple cups is probably enough) around and dump, repeat. With your fuel pump out, clear the lines that go to the engine and the tank. Install your new filter and reinstall the pump The strainer is on the bottom of the tank, 2 screws and it comes out to clean/replace. The fuel lines are quick connect so you would need the tool (any auto parts store will have a set (under 10 bux)

Sorry the above is scattered.... I am rushing out the door... good luck and post back if you have questions. Others may assist, I'll drop back in later tonight when I return.

check
if you don't have a spark, check the pulser (ckp sensor), I had a similar case in the first place, the battery would sit down, the pulser would burn, because I tried to fire the honde on the car cables

Might be good to determine if you have spark, and if you have fuel. If you decide to change the filter, I think yours will take the kit with the pump housing and updated filter.

Here’s a video.
