New Rincon owner and member here.

I bought a 2005 Rincon a few months back. Had it services but I am still having issues trying to start it. Normally when it is cold it takes me a good 10 minutes to start it up for it to stay idling and run. Once its warm it stays idling good but at first it takes a long time. No matter if it is hot or cold, I still need to hit the throttle when trying to start it for it to come on. I gas it softly for it to run but let go and its cold, it stalls out. When it is hot I do the same but it stays idling and no issues to run it.

Would like some insight on this as my mechanic and I have no idea why it would be doing that.

I turn the idle speed on mine up a touch in the winter to help it keep running when cold. It also helps it warm up a bit faster. Dumb question but you're using the choke, right?
Yessir I do but still does the same thing. I have to hit the throttle for it to fire up and keep gassing it a bit for it not to shut off. Once I let go of the throttle if its not that warmed up, it shuts off! I want to also point out that I live in Alabama, which right now its not cold at all. I meant cold start as in its been sitting for a day or two.

Mine does the same thing. Turning up the idle does help. Also adjusting the choke as it warms up helps. I have found that it just takes a few minutes after it starts and using the throttle to just keep it running while slowly releasing the choke will get it to a point where it will idle. You just have to take alittle time.

does your rincon start squaking like a chicken when its below 45 degrees outside?
the sound stops after it warms up

No it dosen't. It just takes a little time to start and then I just keep it running with the throttle and choke adjustment. After a few minutes it will idle on it's own. Just remember to turn up the idle speed. Hold the throttle open when adjusting the idle.

It idles fine and has no issues staying on when its cold it just makes a squaking noise

I actually worked on it a few minutes ago and adjusted the idle and I believe it was idled too low. It cranks up now (warmed up) without it having to hit throttle. I will try tomorrow in the morning for a cold start to see how it does.

Stupid question for yah. I noticed you said "adjusting the choke". Maybe I'm just too new to four-wheelers (bought this one for hunting) but I normally just pull the choke up when I'm starting it, gas it a bit for a few seconds and then take the choke down. Is this what you mean?

If the choke is pulled all the way out it may start to flood the engine. As the engine starts I will slowly push the choke in a bit at a time until it will run with it all the way pushed in.

My 05 Rincon was hard to start like that. Sometimes it was easier just to squirt a little starting fluid in the intake. I changed the timing chain and adjusted the valves and it starts after a couple of turns now. Hot or Cold. I would try adjusting the valves first. Good Luck.

Thank you! All that was done prior to me adjusting the idle on it, including new plug. I will check for the rubber boot air leak tho as I dont think we have taken a look at that. I did start it off yesterday evening and it started right off and never went off so im hoping the idle was the issue.

Also on some of these, you twist the round housing behind the choke knob to adjust the friction- tight enough to stay where you put it.

I start mine below 20 degrees all winter, some at 0 degrees to plow snow.
New OEM carb made the biggest difference for me. Prior to a new carb it was hard to start.
I use this to hold throttle while it warms up. For hanging garden tools. Slide it over the grip to hold throttle and adjustment.

MY ATV IS ON A MAINTENENCE CHARGER
I do not shut the fuel off when it sits
My procedure
3 pumps on primer bulb
pull choke all the way out
will start in a few turn overs
Use tool hanger to raise RPMs
Adjust choke and RPMs with tool holder as it warms

It is 18 degrees here with 5 inches of snow, still snowing. Plowing is in my near future.
