Anyone who has the stock air cleaner- will Simple Green effectively degrease the filter or do you have to use strong solvents?

Get UNI filter cleaner and oil (both in spray cans). Works great. Simple Green will work, but probably not as well. I'd soak it in warm water and SG for a while.

I cleaned mine this week and used Kerosene like suggested in the book. Smell is hard to get rid of. I also washed it after letting it set overnight to dry. The Kerosene was hard to cut with regular dish soap. Will probably use Naptha next time or buy a filter cleaner. I also used K&N filter oil on it and it is now red instead of yellow. The foam filter is a hassle to clean so I think I will get a K&N after all. I have been hesitant after getting a high silicone content reading on an oil analysis of my Duramax when running the K&N.
