Has anyone done any side-by-side comparisons between Tamarack and Kimpex trunks? For either the front or rear? The racks on the Rincon are a bit smaller than others and it looks like there will be some "overhang" on the rear trunk with almost all brands.

TIA

I have the Kimpex box on the rear and really love it. It does overhang some, but it is fine. I've had it about a year, just make sure you check that you can get your seat off with the box on before you mount it permenantly. Also, if you mud a lot (like I do) make sure you get a box that opens from the back of the bike, so the fasteners to the top don't stay as muddy.

Tim,
Thanks for the feedback. I think I will simply go with the Kimpex as it seems everyone is happy with them. I've not heard of anyone that is uisng the Tamarack - but I am still kinda interested in the fuel storage model for the front rack.

Thanks again!

I have the tamarack box. The big one with the pad in the middle. I really like it cause it is very tight, no water or dirt can get in as it has a weather seal at the top and the latches are on the back. It is very large too. It does not overhang either side of the rack. The things I do not like about it. No permenant way to secure it. Comes with bungee cords to secure it to the racks. Also needs a seperate upright bar to secure it to needs to be purchased seperately or supplied by dealer. I feel that this is not the best way to secure something so large. I would favor a more permenant arrangement. All in all, though, it is a very good trunk. That is my two cents worth.

Tamarack is outstanding quality. I have the front and rear. It comes with a bungee like quick release system, but using u-bolts with wing nuts is a better option. No weather seal came with my units, but the over lap means that very little gets in. I compared the Tamarack to the Kimpex. I may be mistaken, but it seemed like the Tamarack was made of thicker polyethylene, and the simple no-frills exterior appealed to me. The front box is small.
