Hey everybody,

I restore old metric bikes as a hobby and occasionally fix stuff for other guys to subsidize my habit. I had a guy bring me a 2003 650 Rincon to look at - it was leaking. The front crankcase is cracked and broken so he opted to not have it fixed and said I can keep it, scrap it, whatever. After going over it its beyond economical repair so I'm going to scrap it. Just thought I'd get on here and see if anybody needs any parts off of it. The plastic is all trash, tires are dry-rotted but there are repairable parts on it - master cylinders, coolant tank, radiator, seat, etc. I'm in Dallas, TX. I'll sell the parts off of it for cheap plus shipping. I know how hard it is to find parts for these older beast and can't just chunk everything in the scrap pile with a clear conscience.

I dont know if this is what i need or not. My 2003 wont rev over 2500 rpm or go over 30 mph without holding back and lightly backfiring. If i take the top off the air breather, it seems to rev ok. do you think it could be the ECM? if so how much would you want for it? I have tried cleaning everything i can think of and replaced the TPS and reset it per the book.

Maybe start a new thread with your issue as not many people will see it this way

I would like to know how you arrived at the ECM being the cause. I’m fairly certain it’s a guess. If you used the troubleshooting guide, the blink codes and some reading, it’s really not that difficult. My guess would be A: cam, B: cam or C: cam. Recommend you get a shop/service manual and get er done.
