Has anyone tried disconnecting the reverse indicator wire at the gear position switch?

I have a manual and it looks like this would work.
At the gear position switch the wire is gray and goes to the ECM and the speedo pod. I would think that the end to the speedo just went to the indicator light and the ECM would be what signaled the limiter.I also assume that it would still engage the tranny b/c it is manual. Just some thoughts any input would be appreciated.

Red, I would say that it wouldn't.The ECM would recognize a wiring or sensor problem set a fault code...But try it see what happens if it sets a fault code on your display you'll have to reset the ECM.

How would it set the code if the sensor is not connected? looking at the wiring schematic the wire looks like it goes to the indicator light and the ECM.
